Robert C. ("Bob") Harris, age 94, of Waldwick, NJ, passed away on October 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born to Edna and Joseph Harris in the Bronx, NY on July 15, 1931, he led a remarkable life distinguished by an unconditional love for his family and friends, a lifelong passion for sports, and a long and successful career in the luxury watch industry in New York City. Bob had an engaging, and upbeat personality and a wry sense of self-deprecating humor that endeared him to friends and family and anyone he met.
Bob graduated from Teaneck High School in 1949 where he met the love of his life, Catherine (Myers) Harris, who he married in 1957. While in high school, Bob was a star basketball and All-State soccer player. In the early 1950's, Bob served in the US Air Force, before and after which he attended Gettysburg College where he excelled in basketball and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He graduated from Gettysburg with a BA in Political Science in 1958. Bob worked for the Henri Stern Watch Agency in New York City for 35 years, traveling extensively as a senior sales account manager until his retirement in 1996.
He had a life-long passion for golf and played extensively with family and friends, traveling to courses throughout the Tri-state area as well as South Carolina and Florida often with his Waldwick and Mahwah-based "Mahwick golf gang". Bob shared his love of sports with his children and grandchildren along with his encyclopedic knowledge of US and world history, politics, classic movies, and the great singers and song writers of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. He was an avid reader, a witty conversationalist, and the world's best dad, grandpa, and great grandpa. He loved the Jersey shore, especially Long Beach Island, where many priceless memories were made with family and friends.
Bob is predeceased by his wife Cathe of 67 years, his parents Edna and Joseph Harris, his sister Jean Thompson, and his granddaughter Amie Harris. His memory will be cherished by his children Jeffery Harris (Lynn), Lawra Harris Dodge, Cliff Harris (Mary), Tom Harris (Tara), grandchildren Jessica Mueller (Bill), Nicole Harris, Cathryn Dodge (Aaron Guerrero), Andrew and Emily Krumholz, Christopher, Matthew, and Erin Harris, Molly, Ryan, Kelly, and Maggie Harris, and great-grandchildren Conor and Cayleigh Mueller. We are blessed by the countless happy memories made over the past many years and for the unconditional love he gave to us all.
His memory will also be cherished by his sister-in-law Margaret Winkelmann, brother-in-law Dr. Adam Myers (Jane), his many nieces and nephews, his other extended family and friends, and his caregiver Alma Cetinich. Bob will be profoundly missed but his memory will continue to bring a smile, and his spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him.
