Dr Haslam was a very special to me. It seem like we met every ten years for surgerm on me. We had a little joke going on. He loved his family and Mickey Mouse. God bless you Dr Hasl. Your patient Jean Toothman.

I met my "tocayo" Roberto in Ken Schoenberg's spanish class awhile back. I immediately knew he is one of those rare men: very intelligent yet without ego, embracing all as equals, engaging, encouraging, y totalmente con una sonrisa de luz. My prayers to your family and friends Robert, I look forward to our next attempts to hablar en espaol!

dear suzi:
dear family:
I will miss dr. bob's smiling and witty presence. but then, he now hears the glorious choirs of heavenly angels....this is not poetry as, when I am at opera, I consider these to be advanced taste of such voices...
I plan to attend mass this morning and to see you this summer as usual.
amicalement to all, especially your family members I have met at Washington park or concerts or operas or ballets.

Dr. Hasl,
You served God and your fellow man well. Rest in Peace up in Heaven with our Aunt Edna and Uncle Charlie, along with all of your beloved family. What else can I say, to a man and his family for without him, I would not be here to have enjoyed my last 40 or so years. For without him, I would not have been around to marry and start my own family to serve the Lord. My forever gratefulness.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Hasl family. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet and get know Dr. Bob., disappointed it was for a short time. He was always with a smile and kind words.
His contributions to the medical community and the Arts made a real difference. We thank him much.

He had a wonderful bedside manner. He participated with Dr. Mahalingham in a surgery on my late husband. My current husband and I often saw him at the symphony or opera and it was like we were old friends.

To Suzanne and all the Hasl family,
I will never forget Bob. A memory that comes to mind immediately is how he and Suzanne opened their home to those of us in the Opera Guild in the early 2000s when were were trying to get the Opera Rap program off the ground. In fact, the very first one of these was hosted there. Bob was so encouraging and enthusiastic about this initiative, and made us feel that we were going to succeed. And in fact, we did, but it wouldn't have been possible without Bob's (and Suzanne's) steadfast support.
My father was also a opera buff and part time scholar, and I was pleased that he got to meet Bob briefly in 2010 at one of the opera dinners and share stories of the opera courses they were teaching in their respective local 'retirement learning' programs. Dad passed away in 2011, and I know he has one more opera lover in heaven to converse with!
Love, Jocelyn

Dr. Robert Hasl saved my life by freeing me of a cancer in which has a survival rate of only fifteen percent. His attention to detail and dedication to my case that required six hours of touch and go surgery in September of 1985. He is is the reason I am enjoying my life today. He will forever be in my heart. His family has my sincerest sympathies and condolences.

Suzanne:
I have asked my deceased wife Sue, to meet your beloved Dr. Bob and show him around heaven. They always had a good time together with many laughs and giggles and I am sure that will continue into eternity. I'll also tell Sue to remind the Dr. that my hernia fix that he performed is still in place.
Prayers for you and your family........

Suzanne and family,
Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful man with the world. I am so grateful to have known this warm, exuberant, passionate man, who obviously loved life. If more people could live like he did, the world would be a better place. I will miss his smile, his laugh, his hugs, and more. Opera season has forever changed. I am so sorry for your loss.

Review Dr.Robert Hasl, UD Celebration of the Arts, April 19, 2016;
I am beginning this review, this article, with a tribute to my friend, Dr. Robert Hasl. Nearly no one of my readers knew Dr. Bob. But you should have!
Bob and I shared a friendship based on opera and smiles. Bob was never without a smile, and rarely without an opera. He especially loved Cincinnati Opera and was also a Dayton Opera and our impresario Tom Bankston fan.
Bob and his beloved wife Suzanne occupied the front row at the opera and the front row of life. He had so many sides, all loving, always smiling. I was lucky to share some of those sides and many, many of those smiles.
Dear friend, great spirit, ave atque vale.
