Robert C. Hoard, Jr.

Robert, known as Bob to family and friends, found peace on November 10th, 2025, following a brief period of illness. He was supported by his loving wife and sons in his final days.

Bob was born in Detroit, MI, on October 9th, 1949. He proudly served eight years in the National Guard. He graduated from Wayne State University with a Master's degree in technical and vocational education. He spent over 35 years as an educator at Oakland Technical Center where he curated his own program in motorcycle and marine repair. He had a passion for empowering students to realize their value and potential, supporting them at national trade school competitions through the SkillsUSA (formerly VICA) organization. He also worked with Mercury Marine to equip his classroom with the latest engines and tools to help train local Mercury technicians. In his later years, Bob enjoyed chauffeuring vehicles for the automotive OEM's, giving him the opportunity to drive new and exotic cars.

Outside of work, Bob was passionate about spending time on the boat with his family and going for rides on his motorcycle. He loved to tinker and fix anything mechanical. Bob was kind, outgoing, and made friends everywhere he went. He was the person everyone would call for advice or for help when something needed repair. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a dedicated cub scout leader, soccer coach, referee, and church usher. He also enjoyed giving back to his community through the local Lions Club.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Frances. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Ruth Ann Hoard, sister Kathy (Joseph) Schur, sister-in-law Diane Dulzer, sons Michael (Lauren) Hoard and Jeffrey (Kimberly) Hoard, and three beloved grandchildren: Oliver, Brody, and Isabelle.

Visitation services will be held at Wasik Funeral Home in Shelby Twp., MI, on Thursday, November 20th from 2:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Macomb, MI, on Friday, November 21st, gathering at 9:30a.m. with mass starting at 10:00 a.m.

Through his kindness, generosity, and career in education, Bob touched the lives of many, and will be greatly missed.
