Robert Komorowski Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 25, 2025.
Robert "Bob" Joseph Komorowski, age 81, Suamico, died peacefully surrounded by his family on February 20, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born on September 25,1943 (with the gift of gab) to Joseph and Dorothy Komorowski.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Suamico and attended Suamico Elementary, West Lakeside School, and graduated from Pulaski High School. After graduation, at 17 years old, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at James Connally Air Force Base in Waco, Texas, where he was an Aircraft Mechanic Specialist. He proudly served our country for four years. While stationed in Texas, he met his future wife, Helen Jeanette Habel. They were married on May 7th, 1966. They would have celebrated 59 years of marriage in May.
After they married, they moved back to Wisconsin where Bob worked at Claremont and then Morning Glory Dairy as a milk bottler for 32 years, retiring in 2000. He always said he was busier in retirement than when he was working. Gardening, fishing, and hunting for geese, deer, ducks, and doves were some of his favorite hobbies. He could also be found sitting in a lawn chair outside with his brother Joe, "solving the world's problems" or having breakfast at the Deerfield Diner with his buddies. He also loved to watch a good Western featuring Clint Eastwood or John Wayne. Often, you would find him enjoying these movies with his eyes closed on one of his two couches!
Bob was also a volunteer member of the Suamico Fire Department for 35 years. He enjoyed playing baseball on the Fireman's team and at family reunions with his father pitching and later was able to help coach softball for his daughter Mary.
Bob's faith was extremely important to him. He was a lifelong member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Suamico, Wisconsin. As a child, he served as an altar boy/server. As an adult, he was an usher, altar minister, and continued to be a server at mass until he was no longer able. He very proudly trained many of the church's youth to become servers. Bob belonged to the Knights of Columbus and helped with church fish frys during Lent and sold Tootsie Rolls to raise money for disabled children.
Bob loved his family dearly. Having "all of the kids and grandkids over for a cookout" meant more to him than any gift he could receive. He had a huge heart for children and attended as many sporting games and events for his children and grandchildren as he was able to.
Bob enjoyed a good bourbon and coke and loved to dance. He taught his children how to two-step and polka. He was always smiling and ready for a good laugh. He had a goofy sense of humor and loved to tease those whom he loved. Nobody was a stranger to Bob. He always knew somebody wherever he went, and if he didn't know you, by the end of the conversation you would be friends.
If you knew Bob, you sometimes had to decipher what he meant during conversations. The family affectionately called them "Bobisms." For example, for those frigid nights, you could consider using an "Afghanistan" (afghan) for extra warmth. He was very caring and when it was time for Helen to take her Advair inhaler, he would gently remind her to take her "Avatar." Do you remember when Mike Hogaboom (Holmgren) coached the Packers? One of his favorite action movie stars was Arnold "Schwartzenickel" (Schwarzenegger)!
When his Alzheimer's progressed and he could no longer be cared for at home, he lived in an assisted living facility and then spent the last four years at Oddfellow Nursing Home in Green Bay.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Helen; daughters Terri Hogan (Matt), Patti Alicea (Joe); Kathy Argumedo; Mary Alsteen (Bill); son Robert Jr.; 11 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three siblings; Marie Schroeder (Jerry); Joe Komorowski (Carol); Jim Komorowski and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Komorowski; sister Victoria Osborn; brother in-law John Osborn; mother and father-in-law Lillie and Charlie Habel; brothers-in-law Charles and Robert Habel; sisters-in-law Helen Habel and Mary Komorowski; daughter-in-law Lana Komorowski; and nephew John Komorowski.
We would like to thank the staff at Oddfellow Nursing Home for the wonderful and loving care Dad received during his time there. It was evident by the smile on his face that he truly felt at home. We will be forever grateful for the compassionate care shown by the staff for Dad and our family in his final days.
The family would also like to thank Unity Hospice for their support during this difficult time.
Family and friends will gather at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 3370 Deerfield Ave W, Suamico from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28th, 2025; Christian burial to follow at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to the Forget Me Not Fund, Inc. (https://www.forgetmenotfund.org) or St. Jude's Hospital (https://www.stjude.org) in Bob's name are appreciated.
