Robert W. Kowalewski, 81, of West Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, after a short illness. Bob was the beloved husband of Colleen (Maloney) Kowalewski, with whom he would have celebrated his 55th Wedding Anniversary on June 20, 2025. He was born on June 5, 1944, in New Britain, CT, son of the late William and Ceil (Monko) Kowalewski.
Bob received his B.A. from Central Connecticut State University, served in the Army Reserves from 1969-1975, and spent his professional career selling windows, doors, and millwork to builders throughout Farmington Valley.
Bob enjoyed planning trips for his family, especially to the national parks out west, as well as several trips to Ireland. He and his family also looked forward to their annual trip to Block Island. Bob was a devoted grandpa who was always available to look after his grandchildren and to take them on adventures.
Besides his wife Colleen, Bob is survived by his daughters, Lynne (Doug) and Sue; his son, Peter; and his grandchildren, Tyler, Lilly, and Saraya. The family is especially grateful for the care he received from the nurses and staff at Bliss 9I and the Conklin Building hospice wing at Hartford Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the House of Bread, 27 Chestnut St. in Hartford, CT 06120 or to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 650 Willard Ave, Newington, CT 06111. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
