He is survived by his wife, Cathy Larock; his children, Randell (Irene) Larock, of Glenns Falls, Jessica (Ben Muncil) King, of Moira, and Jennifer (Scott) Poirier; his siblings, Gary (Sylvia) Larock, of Belmont, Linda (Charles) Allen, of Malone, and Tina (Daniel) McCarthy, of Malone; six grandchildren, Izik, Payton, Daimen, Zendann, Tayllore Poirier, and Myah (Corbin) Lucy; a great-grandchild, Sutton Lucy; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his brother, Gene Larock.
Robert was born on April 8, 1946, in Malone, NY, the son of the late Alvin and Leona Barnes Larock and was the oldest of the five children. He graduated from Franklin Academy in 1965 and enlisted in the US Army. He served in the Vietnam War as a radio operator in the 9th Infantry Division. He was honorably discharged on November 8, 1967. Upon his return home, he went to work for Reynold's Metals in Massena where he worked as a crane operator. He retired from Local 420-A in 2004 after over 34 years at the plant. He married Cathy Ann Laflesh on February 14, 2001 in Bangor, NY.
He was a proud and dedicated member of the Brushton Moira American Legion Post 939 for many years. At home, he found great joy in raising his chickens, lovingly referring to them as his "showbirds," and took pride in the time and care he gave to them. Just as importantly, he cherished looking after his grandchildren and would do anything for them.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Brushton Moira or Malone American Legion. To send flowers to the family of Robert, please visit our floral store.
