Robert Lauless Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors - Midland Chapel on Dec. 27, 2025.
Robert R. Lauless, known to most as Bob, of Midland, Michigan, passed away on December 9, 2025, surrounded by his family and his cats. He was 82.
Bob was born on January 12, 1943, in Evansville, Indiana, to Edward and Dorothy Lauless.
Bob entered the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and went on to make a career of military service as a cavalry scout and administrative specialist. He retired in April 1984 after 24 years of service, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. For his service overseas during the Vietnam Conflict, Bob was awarded the Purple Heart. He frequently joked that he had only one bad day in the Army-February 2, 1968-when he was injured three times in that single day, each injury worse than the last, before being medically evacuated at 5:50 p.m. The events of that day left a lasting impact on his life.
Bob and Julia were married on February 14, 1976. He liked to compare their relationship to Mickey and Minnie Mouse, reflecting his lifelong fondness for Mickey. In the early years of their marriage, Bob and Julia enjoyed taking long biking trips throughout Texas. In retirement, Bob enjoyed road trips, camping, and dabbling in photography. He had a particular interest in Lionel trains, appreciated the companionship of his cats, and liked sitting in the sunshine watching rainbows cast through the prisms he collected. He enjoyed listening to Willie Nelson and was known to tell his wife and daughters, "I love you; heart, body, and soul."
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Julia Ann Lauless (Railsback); his daughters, Regina Lauless and Colleen Lauless; and his grandson, Eli Imhoff. He was laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
