Robert E. "Bob" Lowe, age, of Longmont, passed away July 21, 2024 in Longmont, Colorado.
He was said to have done a remarkable job in standing up to esophageal cancer. He was one of two children born to James H. and Hazel E. "Pat" (nee Childs) Lowe in Pueblo, Colo. on Dec. 3, 1951.
Bob attended high school in Pueblo, graduating 13" in his class. Classmates knew him, sometimes before any other thing, with his trombone case in hand to go to practice or play.
He then attended Colo. State Univ. with a B.S. degree majoring in Natural Sciences.
During summer breaks of college and then afterwards for three years Bob worked a variety of shorter term jobs in mining, oil field work, missile silo upgrading, et al. He then decided to find more security and longevity in his work.
Bob took a career job of 30 yrs. with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Poultry Grading Branch. He worked at many field assignments (processing plants) starting in New Hampshire, the East Coast, California and then to Longmont. His assignments were usually very agreeable; all with great people along the way. Government work allowed Bob to retire at an early age and enjoy a lot of years of freedom.
Bob was a typical outdoor enthusiast from an early age, often enjoying hunting, fishing & skiing. Beginning in the early 1960's the great state of Colorado offered unimpeded recreation, especially in the southern areas. He enjoyed other activities such as racketball, home improvement, motorcycle trail riding and tropical vacations.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judith A. McIntosh of Longmont.
A shorter term marriage, mid-life, was Bob's farthest trip into familyhood. After marriage, however, love endured allowing a candle to continue its glow. Not having an immediate family of his own encouraged Bob to perhaps more appreciate the value of friendships. For friends, indeed, fulfill any emptiness.
Bob will lie in state at Carroll-Lewellan funeral home, 503 Terry St., Longmont, CO
80501 on August 1, 2024, 8 am. Followed by a Funeral Service at 8:30 am. Pastor Russ Bowers will be officiating the funeral service.
Interment is to be in Pueblo at Mountain View Cemetery, 1315 Acero Ave., Pueblo, CO 81004, 12:30pm.

I will always remember Bob as an affable, enthusiastic, caring, kind and most courageous individual who had an active interest in a variety of endeavors. Playing racquetball with him was always a joy. Bob Roggow

I gave Bob one of our German Shorthair Pointers, Shoshone, and I worked with Bob at USDA. I am grateful to have had him as a trainer. He had integrity throughout his career until his very last day. I will forever remember his humor, laugh and his long, long stories.

If you asked, Bob would do anything for you. I asked him to help me move a huge vacuum tube t.v. from our family room to outside where we were giving it away. When he saw it, he picked it up by himself and carried it out of the house without any help. Not only was he strong, but one of the nicest persons anywhere. He will be missed by all who knew him.
