A faithful Catholic, the church was a vital part of his life. He was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Eucharist. Nothing gave him greater joy than to participate at 8:00 am Mass each week.
Robert was born in
Tamaqua, Pennsylvania on October 3, 1939 to the late Victor and Anna Lusky. Born the youngest of three children, Robert will always be remembered as a true family man.
During high school, Robert was a multi-sport athlete, excelling in football, track, and baseball. He is enshrined in the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He was a standout quarterback, which earned him a football scholarship at the University of Detroit, where his Junior year he successfully led the nation in total offense. In 2002, Robert was inducted into the University of Detroit Sports Hall of Fame. Robert would later be drafted by the Minnesota Vikings. While he was at the University of Detroit, he met the love of his life, Sharon Rath. The two of them hit it off, and she became his world.
Robert enlisted in the United States Army before graduating and served proudly for three years, stationed in Arizona, specializing in surveillance. He and Sharon were married on May 19, 1962 and started a family. He was the proud father of four children and blessed with nine grandchildren. He was always there for his children and his family, no matter the time or distance, Robert always found a way to support his loved ones.
Following his time in the service, Robert went back to school, completed his degree and then some, and went to work for General Motors for many years. He also spent time at EDS as an I.T. Computer Systems Manager, before completing his career working with Fame, also a computer company. He retired in 2004.
Following his retirement, Robert enjoyed spending time with family. His greatest joy was being with and taking care of his beloved Sharon. He loved to fish, attend all the events of his grandchildren's sports and school activities, and also became the family's handyman. Anything we needed help with from installing garbage disposals to building decks to troubleshooting computer problems, he was there. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
