Robert Maitz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Swartz-Givnish Funeral Home, Inc. on Jul. 9, 2025.
Robert G. Maitz, of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Robert was the beloved son of the late Gustav and Margaret Maitz. A proud veteran, Robert honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1962. Following his military service, he built a lifelong career in the trades, working in sheet metal and signage before founding his own door company in North Philadelphia. For over forty-five years, Robert dedicated himself to his craft-handcrafting wood and leaded glass doors with precision and pride. His work was not just a profession but a true labor of love.
Robert and his wife, Ann, built their home in Newtown, Pennsylvania, where they raised their children and lived for over 20 years. Newtown was more than a place to live-it was where their family grew, built memories, and found a lasting sense of community. It remained an important chapter in Robert's life and in the lives of those he loved.
Robert was deeply devoted to his family and cherished the time he spent with them. Known for his sense of humor and infectious laughter, he brought warmth and joy to all who knew him. He also took great pride in his German heritage, which remained a meaningful part of his identity throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann, his son, Timothy, and sister, Barbara. He is survived by his loving daughter, Jennifer Maitz-Moore (Tom); his two sons, Robert and David; and his cherished grandchildren, Nicole Morgan and Marlene Moore.
Relatives and friends are invited to Robert's graveside service with full military honors on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 2:00pm promptly at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Robert's name to a veteran's fund or cause you hold special to honor his life and the values he held dear.
