Robert E. "Bob" McBride, 89 passed away on Wednesday, July 20th at Parkwest Medical Center. He was part owner of Colonial Freight Systems where he worked for nearly 60 years. He was born in Tulsa, OK, grew up in Birmingham, AL and proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War era. After his miliary service he began his lifelong career in the trucking industry with the company his father started in 1943. He went on to raise his family in Birmingham before moving to Farragut in 1968 when Colonial moved its headquarters to Knoxville. He supported his wife, Millie, in many community activities over the years. He treasured his children's activities and was a proficient golfer at Fox Den Country Club and loved trout fishing. He enjoyed the family reunions with his brothers, all Alabama boys from Birmingham, who are scattered throughout the south. Although being a big Alabama fan, he grew to become a Vol fan when his grandchildren attended the University of Tennessee.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Millicent "Millie", his father Clarence E. McBride and mother Alberta H. McBride. He is survived by his children R. Dennis McBride and wife Tami, Genny McBride Longenecker and husband Jeff, Mary McBride Coduto, and Scott McBride. Also, he leaves grandchildren Merle Donaldson and wife Tonia, Stephanie Donaldson, Macie McBride Roberts and husband Josh, Brady McBride and wife Brooke, and Ariel McBride. Additionally, he leaves his great-grandchildren Kristian, Mila, and Matthew Donaldson, Madison and Nash McBride. He also leaves his sister-in law Linda Bozza, brothers Bill McBride and wife Janice, Carl McBride and wife Iris, Phillip McBride, Clarence McBride and wife Jane, Lawrence McBride and wife Eva as well stepmother Lura McBride, stepbrother Tom McBride and wife Ruby and stepsister Jane McBride and a host of nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday, July 26 at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel at 11915 Kingston Pike Farragut TN. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy. Knoxville TN
