Robert J. McCurdy, 88 passed away Monday, May 12, 2025, at Sunrise Senior Living in Newtown Square. He was born July 4, 1936, in Philadelphia, a son of the late William and Amelia (Johnson) McCurdy. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1958.
Robert worked at the Philadelphia Mint for 45 years. His interest included collecting postmarks for more than 50 years and he was a member of the PMCC (Post Mark Collectors Club). Robert was an avid book reader, he also enjoyed coin collecting and listening to classical music as well as being a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies.
He is survived by three sisters, Ruth Whiteman, Marian Foglio and Carol Harris and many nieces and nephews, including Katharine Callahan and Charlie Langdale.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, William McCurdy, Dorothy Dougherty, Francis McCurdy, Marie Chreiman, Richard McCurdy and Thomas McCurdy.
Friends and family are invited to attend his viewing from 10-11 AM, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in Cavanagh Family Funeral Homes, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood, where sharing of memories will take place at 11 AM. Interment to follow in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
