Robert G. McGreevy

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert G. McGreevy, Jr. announces his passing on February 6, 2025, at the age of 83. A longtime resident of Pequannock, Robert was born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Robert G. McGreevy and Iris Corry. He was one of three sons, and has called Pequannock home for the past 73 years.
Bob graduated from Pequannock High School, where he was active in football, and went on to attend Wake Forest University. Following his college years, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Alaska. Upon returning home, he joined the Pequannock Police Department, where he served 32 years with dedication, eventually rising to the rank of Sergeant.
Throughout his life, Bob remained deeply committed to his community. He dedicated 58 years as a Volunteer Firefighter with Engine Company #2 and contributed to emergency management efforts, showing his true passion for serving others.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Caryl (nee Witte); his beloved daughter, Sarah; his cherished granddaughter Madison; his son, Rob and his wife, and their children and grandchildren; and his brother, Richard McGreevy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Iris McGreevy; and his brother, Ronald McGreevy.
A memorial visitation will be held on February 12, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Scanlan's, 781 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Pompton Plains. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob's memory to the American Legion Post 242 (Envelopes and labels will be provided at the the funeral home) or the Pequannock Township Engine Company #2.
