Robert Norman McLaren, age 74 of Bancroft passed away peacefully Saturday, June 18, 2022 with his family at his side in Englewood, Florida. A funeral service to honor and celebrate his life will be conducted at Immanuel Baptist Church in Corunna on June 29, 2022 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon, Michigan.
Bob was born February 15,1948 in Flint, Michigan to the late Norman and Cathryn (Bentley) McLaren. He was a 1966 graduate of Durand High School. He married the love of his life, Carol J. Capps on June 30,1967 in Duffield, Michigan. They were about to celebrate their 54th wedding anniversary. Bob was a lifelong resident of Shiawassee County, only moving to Florida on June 2 to be near his daughter and grandchildren while he enjoyed the rest of his life with his bride. Bob was a Tinsmith that worked for Dee Cramer, Inc. from 1966 until 1984 when he went to work for General Motors as a skilled tradesman, retiring in 2005. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Corunna where, along with his bride, they enjoyed not only their spiritual growth but the lifelong friendships they've made.
Bob is survived by his wife Carol, their son Scott (Mandy) McLaren, grandson Daxton; daughter Stacey Lipp, and her children, Evan (Chelsea) Lipp, Jacob Lipp, Deanne (Chris) Byler, Jessica Lipp, Jack Lipp and Nicholas Lipp; their great-grandchildren, Adelyn Lipp, Caden Lipp, Jaxon Lipp and McKenzie Byler; his siblings, Cathy Stilson, Shirley Lundy, Don McLaren, Wayne McLaren; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Cathryn McLaren, his sister Norma Cantrell, brother Earl McLaren and grandson DJ Lipp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Immanuel Baptist Church, in Bob's memory.
