Robert J. "Bob" McMaster, 86 of Gettysburg passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 21, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Peggy Ann (Yingling) McMaster, whom he married on May 28, 1960.

Born October 20, 1938 in Bonneauville, PA, he was a son of the late John J. and Rita A. (Staub) McMaster.

Mr. McMaster was a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg. He was also an active member of Catholic War Vets, the Gettysburg Moose Lodge and of the Knights of Columbus in McSherrystown.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by six children: Donna M. Johnson (the late Mike) of York Haven, Beverly A. Slaybaugh and husband Keith of Sevierville, TN, Lisa A. Thomas and husband Dale of Gardners, Daniel A, McMaster and wife Andrea of Gardners, Kelly M. Funt and husband Dave of Gettysburg and Patrick A. McMaster and wife Kim of Aspers; five siblings: Betty Kachel, Larry McMaster, Sam McMaster and wife Debbie, Donald McMaster and Bernadette Sterner; 11 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings: Albert McMaster and Margaret McMaster.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 11am on Thursday, August 28th at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church; 25 W. High St.; Gettysburg, PA 17325 with Rev. Timothy D. Marcoe officiating. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Wednesday, August 27th from 5-8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Inc.; 321 Carlisle St. in Gettysburg.
