Robert (Ken) Kenneth Morrow Jr. passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, at the age of 77. Ken was the loving son of Robert (Bob) Kenneth Morrow Sr. and Coral E. Morrow – born in Dayton, Ohio on June 29, 1944. The family moved to Houston, TX in 1952.
Ken was an avid storyteller. He often regaled us with tales from his youth and college days. He was very proud of where he came from and loved his family above all things.
Ken graduated high school from Schreiner Institute in Kerrville, TX in 1963. He joined the Army National Guard in 1965 and completed the Airborne Course/Parachutist Badge at the United States Army Infantry School in 1968.
He briefly attended Stephen F. Austin State University before transferring to Sam Houston State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1970. He often bragged he attended both rival piney woods schools. He had an interest in politics that began at SHSU where he was vocal member of the Student Senate. Ken was awarded multiple Outstanding Student Senate Member citations and often expressed a dream of running for political office.
After College, Ken spent most of his working years in the plant and landscape industry. He had a wealth of knowledge where plants were concerned, and he shared that knowledge whenever he had the opportunity. He loved helping people. He was the store manager at Cornelius Nursery for many years before working for Home Depot in various departments from which he retired in 2017. Ken was a longtime proud member of the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association in which he made lifelong friends. He spent many years working alongside his fellow association members at trade shows to help make TNLA the great organization it is today.
Ken was a loving Father, Grandfather and Friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Kenneth Morrow Sr.; his mother, Coral Elizabeth Morrow; and uncle, Robert C. Zimmer. He is survived by his ex-wife Darlene P. Morrow and their children; daughter, Heather Noel Morrow; son, Robert Kenneth Morrow III and his wife Anna Morrow; sister Patricia La Reau and her husband Rodney La Reau; Nephews, Pierre La Reau and Jeffery La Reau; aunt, Evelyn Zimmer; cousin, Janet Zimmer and her husband Gene D'Agostino. He was the proud Grandpa of Anya Morrow, Zoe Venoy, Hannah Venoy, and Hunter Morrow.
His life will be celebrated Saturday, May 7 at 2 PM at Spring Community Church followed by fellowship with family and friends.
