Robert M. Murphy

Canandaigua – Robert M. Murphy, age 64, passed away peacefully at home, on Sunday, September 28, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Pamela Murphy; five children, Haili Murphy, Miranda Murphy, Casey Murphy, Kiera Murphy and Riley Murphy; two grandchildren, Maximus and Ava; sister, Maureen (John) Quigley; sister-in-law, Brenda Murphy; mother-in-law, Sherrill Parsons; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Murphy in 2020.

Rob grew up on Howell Street in Canandaigua and was the son of Clifford E. and Barbara (Dugan) Murphy. He was a graduate of St. Mary's School and Canandaigua Academy, class of 1980, where he was an accomplished basketball player. Rob then attended Seton Hall University and later earned a degree from Finger Lakes Community College.

He was well known in the community for his generosity and for being a genuinely good person. Rob worked in many capacities for his family-owned business, Murphy Tire in Canandaigua, and later for Trombley Tire and Auto. For the last 20 years, Rob has worked for Genecco Produce in Canandaigua. He coached for Catholic Youth Organization basketball, serving as the Varsity basketball coach for St. Mary's School in Canandaigua from 1988-1992. Rob was the President of the Holiday Harbor Board of Managers from 1992-1993. He was also a volunteer fireman and a foster parent. Over the years he carried out countless acts of kindness as a friend to all and father figure to many.

Friends may call Wednesday, October 8, from 5-7pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His memorial mass will be celebrated Thursday, October 9, at 11am, at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Memorial contributions may be made to Golisano Children's Hospital, 300 E.
