Robert Newman, passed away on October 10, 2024.
Robert Louis Newman age 84, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away October 10, 2024. He was born June 28, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert Clelland Newman land Fannie Ross Newman.
Robert was educated by the Kansas City School District and was a graduate of Lincoln High School in 1957. He worked in dry cleaning and retired from Arrow Dry Cleaners in 2005. He was a Union Stewart for the Bendix Corporation. He was an entrepreneur; he owned a record store on 43rd and Cleveland. He also worked for Delta Airlines.
Robert married Janet Susan Johnson in 1963, to that union four children were born Brad Newman; Randall Kent Newman; Shelly Joyce Newman (Benn); and Jeffrey Robert Newman; grandchildren Bradley Jr.; Jasmine; Randy; Myron Jr. Benn; Xavier; and Payton.
Robert married Kyna Franklin in August 2003. There were no children born to that union, but he was father to Fonda Perkins; and Arshiel Franklin; grandfather to Eric Linningham; Ariel Linningham; Alala Cooper; and one great granddaughter, Nola Linningham.
Robert was a Raiders and Chiefs fan. He enjoyed sports, playing card, and dominoes. He was an excellent cook and loved people and barbequing. Robert's motto was "no fools no fun." He made his home in Inglewood, California; Evanston, Illinois; and back to Kansas City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his youngest son, Jeffrey Newman; and his beloved companion, Fendi (his Terrier).
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Watkins Heritage Chapel 4000 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. KCMO 64130. Interment: Brooking Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapels. Condolence may be shared on our website lawrenceajones.com.
