Robert O'Brien

Robert J. O'Brien, 78, of Manasquan, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday January 3, 2025, surrounded by his family. Robert was born and raised in West Orange. He was a graduate of Archbishop Walsh High School Irvington, NJ. After high school he enlisted in the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. After his military service he graduated from Seton Hall University. Upon his graduation Robert started his over 30 years career as a diesel mechanic, and then taught science in the NJ Public School system in Lake Riviera, and Matawan Aberdeen for several years before retiring in 2012. Robert was a communicant of Church of St Denis, Manasquan, NJ.
Robert was predeceased by his parents Darwin and Ruth O'Brien. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Rose (nee Rimmele) O'Brien of Manasquan, his six loving children. Joseph O'Brien of Norfolk, VA, Patricia Schucht and her husband Kevin of Brick, NJ, Kate Hendricks and her husband Jackson of Mocksville, NC, Rose LoCascio and her husband Kyle of Tinton Falls, NJ, Robert O'Brien of Manasquan, NJ, and Bethany O'Brien also of Manasquan, NJ. Robert was the cherished grandfather of Robert II, Justin, Samantha, Kyle, John, and Gillian.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday January 11, 2025, from 9 am to 10 am at Church of St Denis. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 am. Inurnment will follow at St Anne Cemetery 1610 Allenwood Road, Wall, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made the VNA by going online to www.vnahg.org.
