Robert Player Obituary
Funeral services for Robert Player, 69, will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce St., Vivian, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Oil City, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Brother Jessie Colston.
Robert was born on July 10, 1955 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Virgil and Elaine Player and passed away Friday, January 10, 2025 in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman and was proud to follow in his fathers footsteps serving in the United States Army for 16 years, serving a tour of duty in Korea. He had a passion for wrestling and was a semi pro wrestler.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Letrice Player Morris. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sonya Gatchell and husband, Bruce; sister, Lynda Player Davis; brother, Buddy Player; brother-in-law, Joe Morris and several nieces and nephews.
Honoring Robert as pallbearers will be Cory Davis, Tim Davis, Bruce Gatchell, Adam Hutchison, Van Hutchison and Richard Morris.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Louisiana State Oil and Gas Museum, 200 S. Land Ave, Oil City, Louisiana 71061.
