AUGUSTA-- Robert Leo Pomerleau, 87, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2025, at the Maine General Medical Center from interstitial lung disease. His loving wife and daughter were by his side.
Bob was born on August 11, 1938, in Waterville, Maine, the son of Leo J. and Juliette (Roy) Pomerleau. Following his graduation from Cony High School in the Class of 1957, he received a bachelor's degree in electronic technology from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago.
Bob spent his younger working years employed at McDonnell Douglas Corporation in California as an avionics specialist. Upon moving back to Maine, he was employed by Digital Equipment (SCI) and retired in 1998.
On June 20, 1970, he married Joan Drummond at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Augusta. Bob's employment took the family to Sierra Madre, California.
Bob was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Augusta, served as a eucharistic minister for many years, taught CCD, was a member of the Abnaki Council #334 3rd Degree, and the Abnaki Assembly #346 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus. In addition, he was a member of Le Club Calumet, and the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge #964 where he was honored in 2020 and was the longest active member of the lodge.
Bob was a quiet man of strong faith and enjoyed volunteering to help others, especially at Give the Kids the World in Kissimmee, Florida. A music lover with an impressive singing voice, he played the trumpet and was a fabulous cook. Bob loved spending time with his family and friends from Maine to California. Joan and Bob were blessed to spend many winters in Florida at Plantation Landing Retirement Community and lived on Togus Pond in the summer. He was an avid golfer, but his greatest joy was sharing his life with Joan and sailing on his sailboat "Promise".
He was predeceased by his parents, his grandson, Shawn Owen Rodgers, and his Goddaughter, Britta Drummond.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan (Drummond) Pomerleau, daughter Pamela Pomerleau, sisters Sandra Pomerleau and Marie Duryea, his brother-in-law Robert Drummond, great-granddaughter McKaylee Rodgers, and great-great-grandsons Luke and Dexter Brown. Also, several very special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Joan and Pam would like to thank Dr. Arum Ranganath, Dr. Kristein Patterson, and the Maine General Medical Center One West Staff for the compassionate care and support they provided.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 41 Western Avenue, Augusta, Maine 04330. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Winthrop Street, Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob's name to the Maine Health Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, 22 Bramhall Street, Portland, Maine 04102, and Augusta Emergency Overnight Center, 9 Church Street, Augusta, Maine 04330.

Joan & Pam,
You and Bob will forever hold a special place in my heart. All of the sailing memories and having you both in my life was a blessing that I will cherish forever. The memories of Snuggles, Promise, kitties and Christmas get togethers all warm my heart. Bob was a kind soul....and I am glad you shared your lives together. (I would bet my parents have greeted him with laughter and hugs....and a game of Skip-Bo.) Love You Always, Kristen B.
