Robert "Bob" Kay Pratt, 89, of East Greenwich, RI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16th after a brief illness, with his children by his side.
Born on June 19, 1934, in Brockton, Massachusetts, Bob and family moved to Newport, Rhode Island when he was young where his father worked at the naval torpedo station. He graduated from Rogers High School and proudly served in the United States Army before earning his Bachelor's Degree from Bryant College.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bertha (Simpson) Pratt, and siblings Roy, Edward, and Elizabeth (Trow). He is survived by his beloved sister, Barbara Kahre of West Virginia, his son Roy Pratt and wife Kathleen (Burke) of Cortland, NY, and daughter Stacy (Pratt) Rouleau and husband Marc Chagnon of Warwick, RI. Also, his treasured grandchildren Haley Rouleau and her fiancé Eric Venditto of East Greenwich, RI, and Kaitlyn and Shawn Pratt of Cortland, NY.
Bob had a long and fulfilling career, beginning as a banker at Newport Bank and later working at Norton's Shipyard & Marina, Howe's Lubricants, OIC of Rhode Island and his retirement "job" as a starter at Goddard Park Golf Course where he shot two Eagles on the 5th hole.
Bob was deeply passionate about golf, spending hours on courses throughout Rhode Island and Myrtle Beach, SC. He shared this passion with his family, playing with them or going to the driving range, helping improve their game. Bob found solace at Goddard State Park beach, where he enjoyed going on walks and sitting at beach with an iced coffee.
Bobs devotion to his family was unwavering, he could always be found on the sidelines at soccer games and track meets, Bob's support was a constant source of strength for his loved ones.
Bob's love for the outdoors was reflected in his appreciation for Rhode Island's natural beauty. He enjoyed sitting at the beach with an iced coffee and had a passion for the state's seafood offerings enjoying local steamers, calamari, white clam chowder and clam cakes. These culinary experiences were not just meals but celebrations of life's pleasures, embodying Bob's zest for living fully and enjoying every moment.
Bob's adventurous spirit was infectious, always eager to explore and discover. Whether embarking on scenic car rides in search of local treasures, helicopter rides over Newport, or ziplining at Foxwoods, Bob approached each adventure with enthusiasm. Yet, he found contentment in quiet moments shared with family sitting on the deck or at local wineries, savoring the simple pleasures of companionship and conversation.
Bob will be remembered fondly for his generosity, love of family, and passion for golf, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories and heartfelt connections.
In honor of Bob's memory, private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the VA Hospital or Button Hole Golf in his name, both located in Providence, RI.
