Obituary of Robert Ward Quackenbush, Sr.
On Sunday, March 5, 2023, MSG Robert Quackenbush, USA, Retired, returned home to his Heavenly Father.
Robert Ward Quackenbush, Sr. was born on June 14, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Virginia Quackenbush. On a fateful night in August of 1977, Bob walked into a disco and met the woman he would build his life with, Diana. It may not have been love at first sight, but it was a love that endured for over four decades. They wed in May of 1979 in New Jersey. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1983 and dutifully served his country as an Optician for over 20 years. Following his retirement from active-duty service, Robert continued to serve as a civilian at Fort Jackson. Bob enjoyed fishing, bowling, softball, and coaching his children's sports teams. He had a lifelong fascination with model trains and cars and perfecting the bear hug.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Charles, his mother, Virginia, and his niece, Jeannie. He is survived by his wife, Diana; his two children, Melissa and Robert, Jr. (Genie); his two grandchildren, Alexandria and Robert III; his brother, William (Robin); and his nieces, Bethany, Annie, and Sarah.
