Robert E. Ralston Sr.

Robert E. Ralston, Sr., 86, of Palmyra passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. He was born February 16, 1936 in Palmyra the son of Albert and Mary Eyer Ralston. He married Katherine (Kitty) Delay and together they had four children. He later married Marilyn Taylor on October 24, 2009 and she survives.
He is survived by his children, Robert E. Ralston, Jr. (Debbie) of Morris, Patricia DeLaRosa (companion, Mike) of Coal City, Jolynne Striplin (Darrell) of Standard City and Tammie Keffer (companion, Randy) of Waverly; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one stepson, Steve Taylor of Springfield; one step-daughter, Doris Taylor of Springfield; two brothers, James Ralston of Hettick and Coy Ralston (Bonnie) of Georgia; two sisters, Joyce Bettis of Carlinville and Mary Lou Crouch (Marvin) of Chatham and Virden and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife, Kitty, two brothers, one sister and one granddaughter.
Mr. Ralston was a disabled veteran having served in the United States Air Force. He lived in Morris, Illinois for as time and worked for Flexivan Truck Rental and the Ford garage. He later returned to Palmyra and was proud to have built a new home on the old home place. He was an avid horseman and enjoyed working in his shop.
A service of remembrance is planned for a later date to celebrate his life. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project. Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
