Robert William Rankin, 88, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, of Granbury, Texas, passed away early on Tuesday morning, May 6, 2025, in his Granbury home.
Funeral services celebrating Robert's life will be held at the First Christian Church of Granbury on Saturday, May 24 at 2:00 p.m.
Robert was born on June 18, 1936, on the family farm in Gorman, Texas, to the late Barton and Jessie Rankin. As a young man, Robert proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during peace time. On August 9, 1985, Robert married LaDonna Ruth Brown. Robert worked for Bell Helicopter for 30 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Granbury and was a long-time Mason. Robert enjoyed outdoor activities including farming and gardening. In retirement he and LaDonna traveled extensively across the United States. He will affectionately be remembered for his hard work and integrity. Most of all, Robert enjoyed spending time with this family.
Robert is survived by his wife, LaDonna; his children, Trisha Love, Jody and husband Dwayne Shields, and Faith and husband Brent Hanley; his stepchildren, Johnny and wife Tracy Pierson and Dawn and husband Ken McDaniel, Austin McDaniel, Haley Groose; grandchildren, Corinne Cavanaugh, Dana Shumate, Chase Collins, Amber Pierson, and Casey Pierson; and by multiple great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sisters, Sussanne Rankin and Clyda Rankin; niece, Shelby Thornton; and nephew, Shawn Scofield.
