Robert Daniel Rhodus, known affectionately to friends and family as Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle Bob, was a source of strength and love to all who knew him. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on October 28, 1955, Bob's journey through life was marked by his faith, his commitment to his family, and his service to his country. On September 18, 2025, Bob passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home in Lester, Pennsylvania.
Bob grew up in Toledo, Ohio, where he attended a local parochial school. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1973, excelling both academically and on the football field. In 2005, he was honored for his achievements by being inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
After high school, Bob joined the United States Marine Corps, where he was deployed to Vietnam, serving with recognition for two years as a Field Radio Operator. Upon returning home, Bob returned to civilian life, where he secured a position with the railroad system, working as a Signalman at Conrail. He continued his career as a logistics operator and parking operations specialist and served as a member of his local VFW branch before retiring in the mid-2000s, when he became the full-time caretaker for his wife.
Bob's personal life was a testament to his capacity for love and his role as a pillar within his family. He shared a beautiful twenty-five-year marriage with his loving wife, Daryl Rhodus (née Nazareth), blending their families and creating a home filled with many beloved memories. Bob was a devoted father to his daughters, Jennifer (Robert) Anderson, Christine Licata, Jillian Rhodus, and Jennifer Licata. His ten grandchildren adored their 'Grandpa Bob,' who was great at making s'mores, throwing the football, and admiring his grandchildren. They will forever cherish the moments spent with him.
Bob's Catholic religion helped guide him through life's challenges and trials. His legacy is one of unwavering love, service, and faith. Bob's passion for sports and the outdoors will live on through his established traditions, ensuring his love for these pastimes will be shared through his family's generations.
As we say goodbye to Bob, we remember a man who was a loving husband, father, grandpa, uncle, and friend. He was also a true patriot and a man of faith. His legacy of love and family will always be cherished by all who knew him.
