The Timberchase neighborhood will never be the same since Robert J. Royer, loving husband, dad and grandpa, passed away on Dec. 17, 2024, at the age of 92. Robert NEVER met a stranger and his wife Julie never worried when he didn't return from his walk within a half an hour, because he constantly stopped to ask how people were doing and he genuinely cared about everyone. However, he also took the time to brag about his wonderful grandchildren, children and their accomplishments big or small.
Robert was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Joseph and Marie (nee Oesting) Royer. He had one brother Richard. Robert went to Elder High School and graduated in 1950. After high school he worked for the Railroad and in 1952 he joined the US NAVY and served 2 years, 11 months and 12 days of service during the Korean War. After serving his country he attended University of Cincinnati and graduated with his Batchelor Degree in industrial engineering. He worked for many different manufacturing companies over the years.
He met his future bride, Julie Noppert Benjamin, at the Pirates Den and they married on April 15, 1972, and he became an instant father of 4 and loved every minute of it. They completed their family when Neil was born.
Robert enjoyed traveling all over the world. He visited 39 countries, took special trips with his grandsons: Aaron to San Diego and Adam to Costa Rica; and gave all of the grandchildren his traveling gene because they are always up for an adventure. Times with his grandchildren were always special and trips for Breakfast and taking Brody, Garrett & Chase to Chandlers for grilled cheese (with pickles) hundred of times over the years will never be forgotten.
So many wonderful memories are left to fill the minds and hearts of his loving family especially his dear wife, of 52 years, Julie (nee Noppert) Royer; beloved children: Andrea, Todd, Eric (Julie), Keith (Tina) Benjamin, and Neil (Sarah) Royer; Cherished grandchildren: Aaron, Adam (Kate), Alexa(Brock) Colt (Alyssa) Tia (Sawyer), Clay, Brooke (Josh), Chloe, Brody, Garrett & Chase; great grandchildren: Gaven and Maeve; brother: Richard (Sue) Royer; sisters-in-law: Maria & Susan Noppert, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by parents: Joseph and Marie Royer; and brothers-in-law: Gary and Jack Noppert.
Gathering of Friends and family will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 138 Monitor Ave., Sayler Park, Ohio 45233 on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 8:30 am to 10:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Aloyious on the Ohio at 10:30 AM.
Memorials may be made to Elder High School. A funeral home representative will assist with memorials at the funeral home. You can also mail your donation directly to Elder High School.
