Robert "Bobby" P. Ruzek, age 73, of Manitowoc, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024.
Bobby was born on November 8, 1950 in Manitowoc, to the late John Floyd and Laura (Alvord) Ruzek. Bobby attended school for the blind in Green Bay for a short period of time and later at a similar school in Janesville. While at home, his mother would take him for walks around the neighborhood and as he grew older he was able to walk around the block by himself with the family dog. When his mother passed away he spent time in several different care facilities around the state until he located in Manitowoc in a group care home. Bobby liked music and enjoyed playing his 45 rpm records for hours on end. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending the holidays with his family. Despite his handicapping conditions his strong will was evident in all phases of his life. He was a survivor.
Bobby is survived by his brother: John (Joy) Ruzek, Manitowoc; sister: Luanne (Robert) Cavanaugh, Manitowoc; nephews: Michael (Lindsey) Ruzek, Appleton; Travis (Maggie) Ruzek, Manitowoc, Michael (Tiffany) Cavanaugh, Chicago, and Douglas (Heather) Cavanaugh, Appleton; and one niece: Bridget Cavanaugh Daehler, Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents: John Floyd and Laura Ruzek.
A Funeral service to celebrate Bobby's life will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Waldo Site at 11:00 am with Rev. Jason Blahnik officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Homes for Independent Living and Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for all their care and compassion towards Bobby.
