Robert "Bob" Seitz, 55, of Grayslake, IL, passed away suddenly on August 4, 2025.
Born on January 6, 1970, in Lake Villa, IL, Bob was the beloved son of Theresa and Philip Seitz. He grew up in Grayslake, attended St. Gilbert Catholic School, and graduated from Carmel High School in Mundelein with the Class of 1988.
On September 9,1995, Bob married the love of his life, Kim, at St. Gilbert Church. For the next 29 years, they built a life rooted in family, friendship, and faith-right in the same community where Bob was raised and remained deeply involved.
Bob's presence was unmistakable-his booming laugh often carried from down the block, and his generous spirit left a lasting mark on everyone he met. Alongside his brothers Bill and Mike, Bob co-owned and operated the Car Spa locations in Lake Forest and Libertyville. He was an incredibly fair and honest businessman who treated every customer with respect and kindness. More than just clean cars, Bob offered connection-he remembered people's stories. Bob was known for showing up-whether someone needed a jumpstart, a helping hand at a fundraiser or a little league team coached, he gave in the community and to friends without asking, laughed like nothing could break him, and made that carwash feel more like a community center than a business.
Bob had a special way of turning moments into memories. The day his first grandchild was born, he bought a Santa suit and made it a yearly tradition to appear as Santa Claus, bringing joy and laughter to his grandchildren each Christmas.
On top of being a great father and husband, Bob loved to hunt and fish. He made lifelong friendships with his hunting buddies in Iowa. Bob looked forward to those trips every year. Those memories of him will last a lifetime. He also cherished his annual grouse hunting trip in the Upper Peninsula. Those trips will never be the same.
He is survived by his devoted wife Kim; daughter Brooke (Nick) Arquette; sons Gavin Seitz and Logan Seitz; and his beloved grandchildren, Wyatt and Savannah Arquette. He also leaves behind his cherished dog, Pepper.
Bob is further survived by his siblings: Dr. Richard J. (Carole) Seitz of Fremont, Nebraska; Bill (Kristy) Seitz of
Libertyville, IL; and Mike (Dee Dee) Seitz of Salem, Wisconsin; and his uncle, Daniel (Pam) Seitz. He is also survived by his in-laws: Brian (Tanya Kaufman) Curtis, Todd (Lis) Curtis, Tracy (Jake) Reichert, and his loving mother- in-law, Glenda Schueneman. His nieces and nephews include Trevor Seitz, Mallory (Peter) Corrigan, Austin Seitz, Elliot Seitz, Natalie Seitz, Olivia Seitz, Andrew Curtis, Ethan Schueneman, Colten Reichert, Griffin Reichert, and Gabriel Curtis.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents. Theresa and Philip Seitz.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place,
Libertyville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Bob's children and grandchildren, written to Bill Seitz c/o 101 Park Pl,
Libertyville, IL 60048.
Bob was part of everything good around us. His laugh, his heart, and his presence filled the room-and our lives. It's hard to imagine this world without him. In honor of Bob, please feel free to wear camo or your favorite flannel, Bob wouldn't want it any other way.
