ROBERT F. "BOB" SHOEMAKER, age 73, a retired Philadelphia Police Officer and retired U.S. Mint Officer, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025. Beloved brother to Elizabeth "Betty" Thompson (Dello Buono) and the late Barbara Stewart. Dear uncle to Dylan Dello Buono, Bob was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth E. and Doris M. Shoemaker (nee Braker).
Robert "Bob or Shoey" Shoemaker was raised in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia. Bob attended Northeast Catholic High School (Falcons) where he was a standout football player, afterward playing football for Moss AA and some collegiate ball. Following in his father Kenneth's footsteps, who was proud Philadelphia Police Officer, Bob then joined the Philadelphia Police Department, serving multiple districts and became a proud team member of the SWAT team. Bob retired from PPD to launch his second law enforcement career with the US Mint Police Treasury Department in Philadelphia. He also served as a certified range and weapons training instructor. Bob loved motorcycles and was a full life member of the Philadelphia Centurions Motorcycle Club. He loved his family, friends, teammates, LE brothers and Club brothers. Bob also was a Pennsylvania Mason. He supported many charitable organizations and was a man of true character, knowledge, kindness, respect and generosity.
A true brother - you will be missed. Godspeed Shoey.
Relatives, friends, and members of the Centurions are invited to his viewing Sunday evening, August 3, 2025, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM, and Monday morning, August 4, 2025, from 8:30AM until 10:00AM at Louis A. DiGiacomo Funeral Home, Inc., 1055 Southampton Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116, followed by his funeral mass 11:00AM at St. Christopher Church, 13301 Proctor Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.
