Robert "Bob" Skvarka

Robert Edward Skvarka, 91, of Benwood, WV, went to be with the Lord on Saturday April 5th, 2025. He was born in Blaine, OH on October 19, 1933, son of the late Paul and Anna Skvarka.
Robert (Bob) was known for being a carpenter who would help anyone, he loved his family and St. John's Church, where he poured himself into his faith through good acts.You could always find him sitting on his front porch enjoying a cold iced tea while taking in the atmosphere of busy Main Street. Having grown up on a farm, he could plant and grow anything, often feeding many neighbors with delicious vegetables. He, like most of his family, had an artistic flare when painting and woodworking. Some of his most memorable times were growing up in Benwood surrounded by family and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Skvarka, Paul Skvarka and Albert Skvarka; sisters, Martha Starkey, Josephine Skvarka, Margaret Kolar, and Theresa Jafrate.
He is survived by his sons, David Skvarka (Alicia), Bobby Skvarka (Mandy), Craig Skvarka (Tim); daughter Trudy Heil; former spouse, Sandy Glenz (John); grandchildren, Amber Masciarelli (Trey), Maggie Skvarka, David Skvarka, Mason Skvarka; great grandchildren, JoJo Masciarelli, Grey Masciarelli; brother Henry Skvarka (Mardena).
The immediate family of Robert would like to thank Allegheny Hospital Network (AHN) Hospice, Moundsville Healthcare Center, and anyone who reached out.
Family and friends will be received Friday, April 11, 2025 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Bewood-McMechen Chapel from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Bob's beloved home church, St. Johns Catholic Church, Benwood, WV with Father Doney as Celebrant, interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery will immediately follow with full military honors.
