Robert "Bob" Stolfi, of
Stroudsburg, PA, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2024. Bob was born on August 16, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of August and Lena Stolfi (nee Guglielmo).
Bob obtained an associate's degree from Saint Francis College. While attending, he was a proud member of the Lamda Iota Fraternity where he met the love of his life, Carol, at a dance.
He married Carol Ann Scarpa on August 23, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York at St. Rosalia's Church. The pair just lovingly celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Bob joined the U.S. Army Reserve and served until honorably discharged in 1969.
Bob held many positions throughout his long career, spending most of it as a travel agent where he enjoyed helping others make special memories. He founded a travel agency in Brooklyn, Jet Set Travel, next to his fathers-in-law's wedding favor store, which he and Carol later purchased and ran, adding a wedding dress store next door as well to create a one stop shop for soon-to-be newlyweds.
After moving to Pennsylvania in 1987 and working again for a short time in travel, Bob and Carol opened an Italian restaurant, fulfilling a long-held dream. Later in his career, Bob continued his sales prowess, working in different roles at Liberty Travel, Boscov's Department Store and The Prospect and Laurelwood Cemeteries. Through all of these roles, his ability to genuinely connect with and always find a way to help others earned him innumerable top sales awards and loyal, repeat customers.
His hard work ethic, even late in his career, didn't leave time for too many hobbies but he always enjoyed taking money from his friends in a friendly game of poker. He was very active in the Rotary Club, serving as President of a branch in Brooklyn and leading the organization's successful efforts to establish the first volunteer ambulance service in Brooklyn. He earned the Rotary Club's highest form of recognition, the Paul Harris Fellow, which is awarded to a Rotarian who goes above and beyond in serving the community through promoting change and understanding.
Bob was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Tannersville and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Throughout the years he loved serving as a eucharistic minister at several parishes in New York and Pennsylvania.
Bob loved his family without pause and remained a quiet but stable influence through good times and bad. His laugh could be loud and his smile was broad, and when he talked his family knew to listen. He sacrificed his time and comfort for his children and grandchildren, who always knew how much he cared and how proud he was of them.
Remaining to cherish Bob's memory are his spouse, Carol; children, Michael (Lauren) Stolfi, David Stolfi, and Andrew (Lisa) Stolfi; and grandchildren, August Stolfi, Ayden Stolfi, Tyler Stolfi, Samantha Stolfi, Mia Stolfi, and Nathan Stolfi.
There will be a viewing on Tuesday, October 29th from 9 AM to 10:00 AM at Our lady Of Vicotry Roman Catholic Church, 327 Cherry Lane Rd, Tannersville, PA 18372, followed by a funeral mass at 10 AM at the church with Rev. Richard E. Czachor as celebrant.
