Robert "Bob" Stuewer, 87 of North Branch passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, surrounded by his family. Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Robert was born June 11, 1938, in Lapeer to Carl & Madeline (Watz) Stuewer. He married his high school sweetheart, Dian Locklin on July 29, 1957.
Robert grew up on the family farm and graduated from North Branch High School in 1956. After high school he served his country in the US Army from 1956-1959 and drove a milk truck for his father-in-law. Robert was a Pipefitter at GM/Pontiac for 30.7 years working 3rd shift. He made it home in the morning to be able to drive his daily bus route for North Branch Schools for 16 years. Bob was an avid golfer and bowler. After retirement from GM he worked the counter at Lapeer Lanes for 8 years. He rolled a perfect 300 game and a 299 during his leagues. Upon closure of the bowling alley, Bob began working for Lapeer County Bank & Trust as the maintenance man in 2000 for 11 years, and had retired for the last time. Bob had many friends throughout his life and would always help or do anything for anybody. Bob will be deeply missed by many.
Robert is survived by his dear wife of 67 years, Dian (Locklin) Stuewer; his children Brenda (Dennis) Walsh, Robert (Pamela) Stuewer, Jr., Beth (Douglas) Henderson and Rollin (Kimberly) Stuewer. He has 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 5 more on the way. Sister Pauline (William) Weston, sisters-in-law Shirley Stuewer, Darla (Charles) Beadle and Denise Farrington, and many nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl & Madeline Stuewer, In-laws Dwyane & Madeline Locklin, brother Raymond Stuewer, sister Naomi Wilson. Brothers-in-law, Dennis Locklin, Jack Miller, Norman Caughey, George Wilson and Gordon Farrington.
Friends may visit on Tuesday, July 22, from 4-8 PM at Lynch Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, at 11 AM at Lynch & Sons. Pastor Ron Hutchinson will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kiwanis Club of Lapeer Foundation-Inclusive Playground.
