He was born on December 7, 1955 in
Fremont, Michigan to Robert Claude & Carol Doris (Armstrong) Thomas. Bubba was a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, the Hesperia American Legion Post #411, and the White Cloud Eagles #4170.
Over the years, Bubba held various occupations that reflected his hardworking and versatile nature. He spent time as a bartender at Woody's Bar, Fremont Lanes, and the Hesperia American Legion Post #411, where he spent time cracking jokes and making many lasting friendships. He later worked as a pressman for Northern Label until his illness prevented him from continuing.
Bubba enjoyed a life full of activities and hobbies that brought him joy and laughter. He loved bowling and golfing with friends and was known for his enthusiasm for singing karaoke. With his quick wit and lively storytelling, he always knew how to bring a smile to those around him. He also enjoyed visiting casinos and traveling, making memories in Branson, Missouri, and Washington State to visit family. Even after his health declined, he still enjoyed singing karaoke and trying milkshakes from different restaurants.
On May 19, 1978 he married the love of his life Charlene "Charlie" Winchel. Over the past several years, Charlie became his full-time caregiver. Bubba is survived by Charlie along with 3 children: Jennifer (Efren) Silva, Robert (Karen) Thomas Jr., Eric (Kimberly) Thomas; 2 loving dogs, Sammy Jo and Tater Tot; 9 grandchildren: Jasmine (Christian) Davalos, Beyonka Ramirez, Dakota Ramirez, Robert (Abi) Thomas III, Gary Thomas, Jesslynn Thomas, Austin Thomas, Case Thomas, and Erika Thomas; 9 great-grandchildren; his mother, Carol Thomas; sisters and brother: Carla (J.T.)
