Robert Turner Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 6, 2024.
Robert "Bob" J. Turner, 58, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 of glioblastoma.
Robert was born in Astoria, NY on April 2, 1965, to the late Richard and Patricia Turner. He spent his formative years in Jackson, NJ. He and his wife Joy moved to Jacksonville in 1993 and began their family there.
Robert is survived by his wife, Joy Ann Turner (Gaydos) and their three children, Marc A. (Nikki), Annamarie L., and Brandon C. Turner; along with his four siblings: John (Valentina) Debbie, Bill (Jimeque) and Tim (Jack).
Robert served in United States Air Force from 1983 to 1987. He later graduated from the University of Phoenix in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration. Going on to earn his dual master's degree in Business Administration and Healthcare Administration in 2020. He worked in the healthcare administration field for roughly 20 years.
Robert was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed time spent in the kitchen cooking delicious meals for his family and maintaining his yard doing gardening and yardwork frequently. More of Robert's hobbies included reading, specifically Stephen King novels, music, especially his favorite band, Rush, and supporting his favorite teams the New York Giants, New York Rangers, and the North Carolina Tarheels. He also took up the hobby of painting later in life. Many of his pieces of art can be found in the homes of his loved ones. He will be deeply missed by all those who has the great pleasure to know him.
Robert's loving and generous spirit continues to touch lives, it was his desire when he passed to have his physical body donated to the University of Florida's College of Medicine where his body will help improve others' quality of life. We as a family are comforted in our loss knowing that countless others will be given the potential for a cure thanks to his precious gift. A private service will be held for Robert on January 15, 2024. If desired, donations to V for Victory or The V Foundation on behalf of Robert would be appreciated.

So Bob & I actually attended the same very small Catholic elementary school as kids, but a grade apart. We didn't discover this until many years later when our children were in class together at Blessed Trinity! Crazy world! We stood outside the hall chatting and sang our Alma mater and had some great laughs. Every time I encountered him, his beautiful wife joy, or any of their children, I found them to be the most genuine, loving and kind people you could ever know. Their family connection was full of pure love and I cannot imagine the loss his family is feeling, while at the same time I know you are glad that his pain is now over. My most sincere condolences to Joy, Marc, Annamarie and Brandon and all of Bob's family. I pray you find strength and peace in the many wonderful memories you have.

Bob was my younger brother by 1 1/2 years and he tagged along after me for years. We liked to talk and even pretended we were Donnie and Marie although neither one of us could sing. Everytime he got in trouble in grammar school the teachers would come and get me because he would just close up like a clam. He always made me laugh and I will miss him deeply to my soul forever. I love you. So glad you are not suffering anymore. Goodbye for now. Love your sister
