Robert M. Veres, a cherished member of the Cleveland community, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age of 87 in Westlake, Ohio. Born on June 12, 1938, in Cleveland, OH, Robert lived a full life among his family, service to his country, and a love for the simple pleasures in life.

After graduating from Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School, where he showcased his talent on the basketball court, Robert served honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard. He then embarked on a long and rewarding career in retail management, where his leadership and charisma were evident to all who worked with him. Robert spent many years managing the Unique Thrift Store in Euclid, OH, where he was not just a manager but a friend to his employees.

Robert was the loving father of Jessica Siudowski (Steven), Robert Illig Jr. (Debra), and the late Irene Novarese and Christopher Illig, and loving grandfather, to Cassandra Veres, Jon Siudowski, Jacob Siudowski, Amanda Neubecker (Josh), Robert Illig III, Audrey Illig, Andrea Illig, Kaitlin Courtright, Kahla Illig, and Christopher Illig Jr. His guidance and humor will be deeply missed by them all.

The late Richard Veres (Donna) was proud to call Robert his brother, and as an uncle and great uncle, Robert's generosity and kindness touched many more lives within the family. His thoughtful nature was a comfort to his family and friends, and his passion for life was infectious.

Robert lived his life through his actions. His interests were a reflection of his love for his community and his country. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Robert relished the opportunity to support the Cleveland sports teams, whether it was cheering from the stands or discussing the latest game with friends.

An avid golfer, Robert found peace and camaraderie on the greens, and his trips to the racetrack to bet on the horses were filled with excitement and a love for the horses. His passion for these pastimes was only matched by his love for his hometown of Euclid, OH, where he spent most of his life and formed countless cherished memories.

Robert's absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on through the stories shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. He was a friend to all, and above all, a loving and thoughtful man who brought joy and passion to everything he did. Robert's life was a testament to the power of love and the enduring strength of family. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 11 AM in the Busch Funeral Home, 21369 Center Ridge Road, Fairview Park, OH 44116. (440) 333-9774 www.buschcares.com
