Robert J. "Bo" Walsh, 67, of Orangeburg, N.Y., transitioned on March 30, 2024. Born August 16, 1956 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was one of the founding residents of the first Rockland community group home opened by Camp Venture (now Venture Together)in the mid 1970's. He was the son of the late Rita J. (Lang) Walsh and the late Robert J. Walsh. After attending the day school, therapy programs and yearly summer camp at Jawonio, Inc. from infancy to age 21; Bo graduated to become a long time employee of the Venture Industries workshop in Stony Point, N.Y., Bo had a wonderful sunny disposition; a true "people person" who enjoyed karaoke and dance parties, and parade, and was always excited for holiday celebrations. Active in many sports; he loved basketball, baseball, bowling and competed in the Special Olympics.
He is survived by his siblings, Christina Swanson (J. Michael Prozeller) of Suffern, N.Y., Michael Walsh (Avion) of Westtown, N.Y., and Elizabeth Walsh of Washington, D.C. Also surviving are his nephew, Daniel Swanson (Nicole), of Wilmot, N.H., nieces Cayleigh and Cassandra Walsh, a great nephew and niece, Derik and Noelle Swanson, many cousins and countless lifelong friends at Venture.
The family would like to thank the staff of Venture Murphy House who cared for Bo in his later years. Their love and dedication enabled him to live life to the fullest. Additionally, the family would like to thank United Hospice for their compassionate care at the end of Bo's journey. Arrangements by Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, West Nyack, N.Y. Services and cremation were private. Interment at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Haverstraw, N.Y. Donations in Bo's memory can be made to the Venture Foundation, 228 E. Route 59 Suite 118, Nanuet, N.Y. 10954, or United Hospice at unitedhospiceinc.org
