Robert "Bob" Weadon

Services for Robert Alvin “Bob” Weadon will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 23, 2024 in the Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Chapel. A burial with military honors, will follow in Green Acres Memorial Park on Highway 174. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P..M on Thursday August 22, 2024 at the funeral home in Cleburne, Texas. 

Bob passed away August 18, 2024 in Cleburne, Texas at the age of 83. Born in Columbus, Georgia on September 2, 1940, he graduated in 1958 from Killeen High School then joined the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge from military service, Bob worked for companies such as Texas Instruments and Ling-Temco-Vogt (LTV) in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. 

In 1977, he married Sara Beth Bates before settling in Bono, Texas. Bob found a career with Southwestern Bell (later AT&T) where he worked for over 27 years until his retirement. He was a longtime member of the Communication Workers of America and at one time served as Vice President – Network/Suburban of the CWA Local 6201.

Bob, alongside his loving wife Sara Beth, enjoyed activities including watching horse racing, traveling, cheering for the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks, as well as seeing his family grow. 

He is a proud Navy veteran and attended the First Baptist Church of Rio Vista, Texas.

Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sara Beth Weadon; four children, Greg Weadon (Cheryl) of Midlothian, Paige Sloan (Ray) of Forney, Carla Applegate of Itasca, and Kathy Brunson (Karen Lenzini) of Grand Prairie; sister, Mary Weadon Dias (Dan) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren, Kalea Almond (Roy) of Ennis, Matthew Sloan (Chelsea) of Baker, Florida, Zachary Sloan (Taylor) of Joshua, Ashley Ballard (Jeromy) of Kilgore, Justice Weadon of Waxahachie and Ariby Weadon of Waxahachie, as well as nieces, Julie Schneider of Thrall, and Michele Weadon of Alvarado; nephews, Gerald Dias of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Michael Dias of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Marshall Dias of Ottumwa, Iowa.

Bob had 13 great-grandchildren and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Francis “Red” Weadon, Velma Miller Weadon Bowie, and stepfather, Thurman P. “Preacher” Bowie; brother, Richard Weadon and his wife, Penny Weadon; son-in-law, Joe Dan Applegate and nephew, Matthew Dias.
