Robert "Bob" S. Weales, 84, of Columbus, passed from this life at 1:43 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2024 at his home.
Bob was born July 19, 1940, in Madison, Indiana, the son of Dale Sullivan and Lucille Evelyn Smith Weales. On February 14, 1992, he married Karen Kaye Talkington.
Bob, as he was often referred to, worked as a Mechanical Engineering Technician at Cummins Engine Company for 32 years before retiring and continued part time working at local car dealerships as a driver manager. He served in the National Guard and was a 50-year member of masonic lodge #122 in Versailles, Indiana. Bob loved fast cars and snowmobiles. He restored his own 1969 Camaro, 1989 Pro-Street Corvette and took pride in showing it off at car shows winning many awards. He owned "Weales's Speed Shop" building high performance motors for many years and enjoyed drag racing his 1957 Chevy, 1969 Camaro.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; daughter, Angie (Jeff) Turner of Columbus; sister, Carolyn Jane Fairall of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother, Richard (Cheri) Weales of Vevay, Indiana; niece, Jennifer (Noel) Bostic of Aurora, Indian and nephew, Jeff (Sally) Weales Vail, Arizona; granddaughter, Shelby (Dylan) Mounce of Columbus, Indiana; 4 great grandkids; nieces and nephew, Lisa Mabrey of Cincinnati, Ohio, Barb (Dave) Coy of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Chris (Emily) Fairall Marrow, Ohio; also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Stepson, Francis "Kyle" Loper.
In keeping with the family's request, cremation will take place and there are no services planned at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Association, Bartholomew County Humane Society or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
