Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services of ClevelandRobert J. Wenaas, age 78, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at his home.
A proud graduate of North Dakota State University, Robert went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy for six years, with distinguished service aboard both a submarine and an aircraft carrier. Following his military career, he worked as an engineer for several major companies, including Johnson Controls in Illinois, McDonnell Douglas, and later Boeing in California, before retiring in 2023.
Robert was a man of many passions. He was an avid motorcycle and sports car enthusiast, a dedicated bowler, and a talented woodworker. Known for his warm personality, he never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Lorrie Wenaas.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Wenaas; his sisters, Sandra Lafferty and Shellie Nelson (Jack); and his brother, Ron Wenaas (Bonnie), along with numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel Friday, October 3rd, 2025 at 1:30 PM to celebrate his life and legacy.
