Robert L. Yahnke, 82 of Spencer, Ohio passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Autumnwood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rittman, following a lengthy period of declining health.
He was born September 28, 1942 in Lodi, Ohio to the late Charles and Lois (Gough) Yahnke. Robert grew up in Wellington, Ohio where he graduated from Wellington High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1965. He went on to begin his careers at American Shipyards in Lorain and eventually retired from Packing Specialties in Medina in 2008.
Robert was a member of American Legion Post #8 in Wellington for 53 years. He was an avid train enthusiast of both model-railroading as well as the real ones. He also enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels and going to flea markets and classic car shows. Robert was married to his wife Bonnie for 56 years, who preceded him in death on April 22, 2022.
He is survived by his 3 children, Valerie (John) Hall, Jeannie Yahnke, and Charles (Mindy) Yahnke; grandchildren, Cory (Alelie), Cassondra (Jeremy), Brody, Tesa (Dalton), Austin, Christyne (Jarrett), and Tia; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Parker Funeral Home, 202 East Main St. in Spencer, where his funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 1 p.m. Rev. Wayne Scott will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Huntington Cemetery in Huntington, Ohio.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
