Merrilee Poor

Merrilee Poor, ASID, aged 69, passed away quietly at home in Westerly surrounded by loved ones, on Monday, February 20, 2023. She was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Alice Poor and was born in Minneapolis, MN.
She graduated from East High School in Rockford, IL in 1970 and received Bachelor of Fine Arts from RISD in 1977, majoring in Interior Design.
Merrilee worked for several firms in Michigan before moving to Providence, RI with her brother Brian in 1985. She realized her dream of owning her own business in 1995, creating Embellishments Interior Design. Her true passion was working with her hands and sewing was the outlet that fed the passion, specializing in slipcover and drapery design. Her legacy will live on in the homes of countless individuals.
She loved being with family and friends, bringing up Pivot (the little scamp terrier), and had an encyclopedic knowledge of natural remedies.
Merrilee leaves behind three siblings Bruce Poor, Nancy Poor, and Brian Poor; brother-in-law John Ventilato; and nephew Daniel Poor.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Seekonk Congregational Church, 600 Fall River Ave, Seekonk, MA 02771 on Friday, March 24, at 11:00 am with collation to follow in the Hall.
