Robert Henry Young, 79, of
Monkton, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. For more than nine years, Robert faced cancer with extraordinary courage, grace, and dignity-never allowing illness to define him or dim the love and light he shared so freely. To those who knew him, he was a warrior in every sense of the word.
Born October 16, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland, Robert was the son of the late William J. Young Sr. and Barbara C. (Koska) Young. He grew up in a close-knit family whose bonds shaped his life. He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Marie Zwickert, and their beloved children, Kara N. Young and Andrew R. Young. He is also lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kelli A. (Young) Bausch, her husband Michael W.R. Bausch, and their children, Michael W. R. Bausch II and Kayden L. Bausch, who brought him endless pride and joy. Robert is further survived by his brother William J. Young Jr. and William's wife Margaret. He was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Young. A proud patriot, Robert graduated from the University of Baltimore with a degree in Industrial Engineering, before answering the call to serve. He spent six years in the United States Marine Corps and later devoted eighteen years to the Maryland Army National Guard, serving with honor and unwavering dedication to duty.
In 1979, Robert founded and led Consultax Services, where he faithfully served clients for more than forty-five years with integrity and care. He also managed real estate properties with the same steady hand and sharp mind. His professional life was marked by trust, respect, and an enduring commitment to excellence. Beyond his work, Robert embraced life with passion and adventure. An avid pilot and sailor, he felt most at home with the wind at his back and the horizon before him. He loved to travel and in recent years explored Italy, France, Australia, and New Zealand, always eager to share those experiences with family and friends. He also had a lifelong interest in politics and finance and took great pride in guiding his loved ones with wisdom and perspective. Robert will be remembered as a man of strength, conviction, generosity, and humor-a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Parish, at 11 AM on October 8th, 2025, located at 100 Church Lane Cockeysville, Maryland. A live stream of the service will also be available.
