Roberta Ann Carter

Roberta Ann Carter, 84, of Bessemer, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Born on August 8, 1941, in Bessemer, she lived a life full of warmth, creativity, and love. She was a woman of many talents, known for the beautiful things she made with her hands and the stories she so loved to share. A devoted reader, she could never resist a good western novel, and her passion for storytelling made her home a gathering place for generations. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Jerry Carter; her daughter, Traci, and son-in-law, Steve; her stepson, Jeff, and stepdaughter-in-law, Michelle; six beloved grandchildren: Sara, Sam, Paige, Tyler, Tanner, and Anna; her two great-grandchildren, Kristen Eden and Beckham; her brother, Clyce Hurst Jr. and her sister, Jane Maddox; She is proceeded in death by her parents, Clyce and Launa Hurst. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, at Mcalla Memorial Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Valhalla Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the JDRF in her memory.
