Roberta Warner Conaway: A Life Lived (and Spoken) Out Loud
Our beloved Roberta Warner Conaway, born June 23, 1963, in Catskill, New York, decided her work here was done on July 7, 2025. She passed away at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN, likely after giving the staff an earful about something or other.
Roberta, a pint-sized powerhouse with a personality as big as her heart (and her opinions), was known for many things. Primarily, she was known for having absolutely no filter. If it was on her mind, it was coming out of her mouth, whether you were ready or not. This fiery spirit, however, was always fueled by an immense love for her family. Her grandkids were her universe, and she lived for every moment with them.
She joins her parents, Kenneth Warner Sr. and Linda Warner, her husband Howard Conaway, and her daughter Jackie Lawrence, likely ready to tell them all how things should be run up there.
Roberta dedicated herself to caring for others through her work in home healthcare, which is ironic, considering she probably needed someone to filter her own thoughts occasionally. She always made sure everyone and everything was taken care of, a testament to her generous (and sometimes bossy) nature.
To say Roberta lived life to the fullest is an understatement. She did what she wanted, when she wanted. We're pretty sure her first act upon moving to Tennessee was indeed going cow tipping in a field – a true testament to her adventurous spirit and complete disregard for societal norms. She also enjoyed her "refreshments" and relaxing by the poolside, probably holding court and sharing her unfiltered wisdom with anyone within earshot.
She leaves behind her sons, John Jones, Billy Skaggs, Ryan Conaway, and Harry Lawrence, Jr. who are probably still recovering from years of her candid advice. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Earnest Warner Jr. of Lawtey, FL, who no doubt has a lifetime of entertaining stories. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Kaleb Jones, Haleigh Richardson, Elijah Tant, Blake Reed, Isabella Tant, and Harry Lawrence III, and her great-grandchildren, Mayleigh Walls and Bentley "Porkchop," who will undoubtedly carry on her feisty spirit.
Roberta also leaves behind a countless number of nieces, nephews, and "adopted children" – anyone she ever met and deemed worthy of her love and, of course, her unfiltered opinions. They all knew her as "Mom" or "Grandma," and she loved every single one of them fiercely.
Roberta loved everybody, and if you knew her, you knew it. She may be gone, but her legendary wit, boundless love, and complete lack of a filter will live on in our hearts (and our most outrageous family stories).
A celebration of Roberta's incredible life will be held at a later date, and we're sure it will be an event as lively and memorable as she was.
