Roberta Lynn (Roscoe) Rippentrop, age 79, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home. Born on February 6, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Roberta was the cherished daughter of Forrest and Pearl (Nelson) Roscoe and stepdaughter of Maurice Wiltse.
Her family later moved to Wisconsin and eventually settled in Blue Earth, Minnesota, where Roberta grew up and spent much of her life. She married Gordon Rippentrop, and together they had two daughters. Though they later divorced, Roberta remained a devoted and loving mother.
Roberta held various jobs throughout her life, but she was best known for her many years cooking at Double Play, where her dedication, warmth, and hearty meals made her one of the favorites among coworkers and patrons alike. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary; a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and she was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Roberta also spent many special years with Jon Fuchs, whose love and companionship brought her great happiness. In those years, she also embraced Jon’s family as her own. Jon survives her and will fondly remember the life they shared together.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Chris) Breiter and Rebecca (Mike Bjerke) Rippentrop; her grandchildren, Lindsey (Chris) Rippentrop, Kaley (Jay) Petersen, and Reed Petersen; and her great-grandchild, Ember Elizabeth. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Bussinger, and her brothers, Bernie (Bea) Roscoe, Jerry Roscoe, and Wesley Roscoe, as well as Jon’s children and grandchildren, and many extended family members and dear friends.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Pearl Roscoe; her stepfather, Maurice Wiltse; and her sisters, Diana Johnson and Sandi Herrig.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, Minnesota.
