Robin Roy Gaskamp of El Campo passed away on December 20, 2024 at the age of 68. He was born on January 12, 1956 in Brenham, TX to Leroy and Katherine Emshoff Gaskamp.
Rob was raised in El Campo and graduated from El Campo High School. Rob, affectionately referred to as "Robo" by friends and family, retired from Southwestern Bell/AT&T in 2008 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with family, summer holidays at the bay house in Port Alto, and long weekends at the deer lease. Rob loved singing to classic country music and laughing with his family and friends. He also spent many hours working in his wood shop building custom lawn chairs, washer boards, ladder golf and Rob-O's Roulette. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where he made the cross that still stands at the altar.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Doris Hlavaty Gaskamp; daughter Jennifer Johnson Green and husband Joel; daughter Jamie Gaskamp Gates and husband Barrett; grandchildren Jaydon Green, Allan Gates and Avery Gates. He is also survived by his brother Larry Gaskamp and wife Kathy; sister Karen Dodwell and husband Steve; sister Carla Brady and husband Tim; brothers-in-law Larry Hlavaty and Dennis Hlavaty; and nieces and nephews.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law Rosie and Jerry Hlavaty, and his loyal companion, Otis ("the most perfect doggie ever").
Visitation will be4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday, December 27, 2024, at Triska Funeral Home with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be at 10:30 am Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in Hillje.
Memorial donations in memory of Rob Gaskamp may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Strike Out Parkinson's of El Campo, or donor's choice.
