Robin Marie McGowan

Robin Marie McGowan, 66, of Olympia, Washington, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at home.
Born on January 10, 1958, in Brighton, Massachusetts, Robin was the daughter of the late Jean and Robert Simmons. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Paul M. McGowan, and their two children: Suzanne M. Blue and her husband, David, of Bothell, WA, and Marc M. McGowan and his fiancée, Katrina, of Olympia, WA. She is also survived by her siblings: Mary J. Bittrich of Hampton, NH, Allen H. Simmons of Quincy, MA, Jane Rothenburg-Simmons and her wife, Jill, of Boston, MA, and Bobby Simmons and his wife, Amy, of Fitchburg, MA. Robin was a proud grandmother to two grandchildren, Kain A. Linich and Rowan G. Linich of Bothell, WA. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Robin graduated from Brighton High School and went on to work as a bookkeeper for Safeway for 20 years. A lifelong lover of gardening and travel, Robin was an active member of her women's bowling league and enjoyed helping her neighbors. She was also a talented painter, macramé artist, and knitter. A huge sports fan, Robin was especially obsessed with the Boston Bruins. If she wasn't at a bunco party, she was baking cookies for everyone she knew.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Robin on Sunday, December 8th, from 3:00–5:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 5930 Mullen Rd, Lacey, WA 98503, followed by a celebration of life at 5:00 PM and reception at 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 9th, at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM. There will also be a celebration of life this spring in Boston, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory.
