Robin M. Seifert, née Battersby, 81, of Butler, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2025, surrounded by family.
The daughter of Robert F. Battersby and Margaret (nee Cardillo) Battersby, Robin was born and raised in Paterson and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School. At the age of 19, she met Robert Seifert, and the two were married in 1965. They moved to Butler, where they built a home and raised their daughters. While her children were young, Robin earned a bachelor’s degree from Paterson State College. She was a devoted wife and mother, and a dedicated employee of the Borough of Butler Electric Department for 17 years, eventually becoming a supervisor.
Robin took great pride in her community involvement. She served as a fiduciary for the residents of Butler and was a trailblazer as the first woman to serve on the all-male Butler Board of Education, where she remained a committed member for 12 years.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert; her sister, Alana Bauer (the late John); her brother, Robert Francis Battersby Jr. (the late Columbia); her brother-in-law, William Conklin (the late Barbara); her daughters, Kristine Sanchez (Rick) and Elana Rivera (the late Christian); her grandchildren, Krystal Ricardo (Roger), Matthew Sanchez, Maggie and Frances Rivera; with Teresa and Maria Delcorso who were like daughters to her. She is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
Robin remained deeply committed to her community throughout her life. She was a long-time member of the Lake Edenwald Association during her years in Butler and worked in retirement as an aide at Kinnelon High School. In recent years, she became active in local Democratic efforts in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District.
Robin had a lifelong passion for literature, gardening, music, education, and civic engagement. She loved to swim and was part of a hiking group until she was sidelined by cancer. A dedicated member of the Our Lady of the Magnificat adult choir under the direction of Michael Pearce, she lent her beautiful alto voice to weekly Masses and cherished Christmas concerts.
Above all, Robin was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a true and steadfast friend to many.
