Rocco F. Siravo, affectionately known as "Rocky" peacefully passed away on March 11, 2025 at the age of 89. He was born on October 17, 1935 and was the youngest of eight children. Rocky is preceded in death by his wife, Anita (née Cattalo), and his seven siblings Mae (Espodito), Joseph (Patsy), Annie (William), Lucy (Joseph), Anthony, Rita (Francis), and Rose. Rocky is survived by his three sons; Domenic (Annette), Rocco (Marybeth), and Anthony (MaryKate); his nine grandchildren, Danielle (Paul), Stephanie (Gregory), Domenic, Isabella, Rocco, Anastasia, Anthony, Allison and Alexis; and his great grandson, James Rocco. Rocky is also survived by his dear friend, Shirley Rotella.
Rocky played basketball at South Philadelphia High School where he met Anita, his wife of 54 years. He served honorably in the United States Army and upon his discharge began working at the Philadelphia Inquirer. Rocky he worked his entire career at the Inquirer where he was recognized as a skilled printer and a great friend to all. Rocky loved spending time with his wife, his family, and his friends and was especially happy when he could do all three at the Casinos in Atlantic City, stopping on the way at the shrine of Padre Pio.
Rocky was devoted to his family and taught his children the meaning of "family first." He enjoyed cooking and family gatherings, especially on Christmas Eve with every present for the grandkids signed "from Santa." Rocky loved sports and was an avid fan of each of the local teams, especially the Eagles for whom he once held season tickets in the infamous 700-level at Veterans' Stadium.
Rocky spent a great deal of time with his grandchildren who knew him as "Poppi." He loved attending their social events from sports, to plays, to parties and was always there with love and pride. He took his role as unofficial leader of their family group chat seriously, providing daily sports scheduling info, real-time updates to local scores, and the occasional pop culture comment.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing and Funeral on Monday, March 17, 2025 at St. Richards Church, 3010 S. 18th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19145.
